Bed Wetting in Children

We have 3 daughters aged 8, 11 and 13 and our middle child suffered from enuresis.  It happened about 2 out of every 3 days, so for 5 years we struggled with washing sheets, drying sheets and blankets, airing out rooms and making beds.  Our other children learnt to get up at night but our middle child didn’t.

We have told ourselves many things over the years.  We believed that it was caused by stress and that we were to blame for living such busy lives.  We believed that it was from drinking too much water before bed so we have been pressuring her to stop drinking after dinner.  We have continually told ourselves that any day she will grow out of it, but she didn’t.

She has a gentle personality and having to deal with this has been hard on her. Her sisters regularly tease her because they know it upsets her. She is embarrassed when her friends visit and she tries to avoid questions on why her bed isn’t made and tries to distract them when we re-make her bed.  She had to take special bed sheets on school camp and had to tell the teachers of her condition.

We have tried wet bed alarms but she found them uncomfortable to sleep with clipped to her pants and the alarm came on after the bed was wet.  We have tried natural remedies but she didn’t stick to them long enough for them to work. We tried waking her up in the middle of the night but it didn’t seem to make any difference.

We recently tried the say goodbye to bedwetting audio program and the results have been amazing. She is happy to listen to the audio program as she goes to sleep on her ipod and she only wet the bed 2 times in the first 3 weeks and hasn’t wet since. It has been the cheapest and simplest solution that we have tried and finally we all feel relieved that this issue is behind us now.  We encourage anyone who is struggling with bed wetting in children to give it a try.
